As was confirmed by the latest findings of the Observatoire Cancer survey conducted by the Institut Curie, there is still much work to be done to raise awareness : <strong>more than half of the respondents said they did not have enough information about cancer prevention, screening, and treatment and its costs.<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n                                <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n<div class=\"space\">\r\n            <div class=\"laptop-only\" style=\"height: 15px\"><\/div>\r\n        <div class=\"mobile-only\" style=\"height: 15px\"><\/div>\r\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"pe-section pb-0 pt-0\">\n        <h1 class=\"post-title fz-40\" id=\"poor-awareness-of-risk-factors\">Poor awareness of risk factors<\/h1>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg \">\r\n<p><strong>Insufficient knowledge about cancer can have significant consequences :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Although most respondents recognized smoking, alcohol consumption and UV exposure as risk factors,<\/li>\n<li><strong>barely half knew that an unhealthy diet, being overweight and not getting enough exercise could increase the cancer risk,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>while factors such as exposure to hepatitis B and C viruses or fine particle pollution were only mentioned by a third of respondents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n    <div class=\"pe-section pb-0 pt-0\">\n        <h1 class=\"post-title fz-40\" id=\"a-fear-of-occupational-cancers\">A fear of occupational cancers<\/h1>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg \">\r\n<p>Whereas only 3.6% of cancers have a work-related origin, according to the French National Cancer Institute (INCA), more than a third of working respondents consider themselves exposed to occupational cancer risk.<br \/>\nIn fact,\u00a0<strong>an estimated 2.6 million employees are exposed to at least one carcinogen (2).<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-style-default\"><img  <div class=\"pe-section pb-0 pt-0\">\n        <h1 class=\"post-title fz-40\" id=\"more-coverage-than-they-expect\">More coverage than they expect<\/h1>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg \">\r\n<p><strong>A third of respondents were unaware that the French national health insurance system covers the full cost of cancer treatment.<\/strong>\u00a0Lack of awareness was even greater regarding innovative treatments such as immunotherapy and nanomedicine, which are also fully covered by France\u2019s basic health insurance, as long as the treatment has been prescribed through a clinical trial and has obtained a marketing authorization.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A company\u2019s group employee benefits policy may offer additional coverage.<\/strong>\u00a0Employees should check with their employer to find out if they are entitled to benefits such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Payment of a lump sum<\/strong>\u00a0(to cover related expenses, such as the purchase of a wig),<\/li>\n<li><strong>A second medical opinion,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>At-home care<\/strong>\u00a0(domestic assistance, home health care, childcare),<\/li>\n<li><strong>Psychological counseling,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axa-assurancescollectives.fr\/en\/sante-prevoyance-dependance\/back-to-work-assistance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Back-to-work support services<\/a>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n<div class=\"space\">\r\n            <div class=\"laptop-only\" style=\"height: 20px\"><\/div>\r\n
