Single-parent families tend to be more isolated and vulnerable than other types of households. For this reason, single parents may require additional support \u2013 such as enhanced social protection. Here, employers can play a pivotal role.<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n

Single parenthood is far from an exception in France. According to France\u2019s Nnational Iinstitute of Sstatistics, Insee,\u00a0almost one in four families in France is headed by a single parent.<\/strong>\u00a0And according to another French statistical body, DREES (1),\u00a0close to one in three of these families considers itself to be poor<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 three times as many as for two-parent families.<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n

As shown in a study by the Council of Europe, this gap in resources is all the more problematic because single parents overall have greater healthcare needs. Often,\u00a0they must cope with higher levels of physical and\/or mental stress, which can negatively impact their health and that of their children.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n
